WAN&K ADVERTISING

The fictional agency that accidentally went global

It all started one Halloween, when we decided to dress as a 1980s ad agency for the office costume contest. (Spoiler: we did’t win.) But we did succeed at building an agency the world wanted to be part of. We are WAN&K: Williams Anderson Nobb & Knob. We deliver synergistic integrated global creative solutions for results-driven business outcomes.

We made a fake pitch.
And then we won it.

Not content to simply dress up, we wanted to create an entire backstory for WAN&K. We decided we had just won the Blockbuster Video account, adding to our enviable roster that included Diners Club, TAB cola and Sizzler restuarants.

To add to the authenticity, we created a pitch-winning campaign with the tagline ‘Rated R for Range’. Drawing on skills we hadn’t used since ad school, we visualised the entire campaign by hand, then mounted it on foamcore boards. Only a small number of office supplies were misused in this endeavour.

We hooked everyone up with all the equipment they would need to do high-level corporate business. We had briefcases stuffed with cash, pagers and brick phones. We also made business cards and coffee mugs emblazoned with the WAN&K logo. The logo itself reflects the finest in late 1980s design, from the use of Bodoni and backwards ampersand to the classy red swoosh. Everyone received custom business cards with titles reflecting their position in the agency.

We’re LinkedIn famous

We’re not sure what LinkedIn is, but apparently the WAN&K credentials video was a big hit. Everyone in the comments wanted to apply. While most LinkedIn posts reach less than 10% of followers, our credentials video reached approximately 1,340% of my follower base. This is well beyond what’s typically considered viral for organic LinkedIn content.

And we’re not done yet

We’re always recruiting, so if you’d like to join the WAN&K family, drop us a fax any time. All new hires will be supplied with a pager, flip phone and a pack of fake cigarettes from the party shop.
